If you'd like to keep and trade a lamp you see in the shop, you should buy two of them.
If someone has a lamp you really want, you're free to offer more than one lamp in exchange for theirs.

I planned on using better lava lamp sprites but in the end I thought I'd leave them with a PUGS style. Hopefully the shape made it less annoying to turn on and change songs.
